Description / Access Information
King Creek Trail 416:
This is an out-and-back ATV trail that climbs up to meadows and forested lands below the Boulder Mountains. Most popular with ATV riders, this route is also used by motorcyclists, e-bikers, and equestrians. Hiking and trail running are also options. The trail takes in some very nice views of the Boulders towering above to the west, and the vistas up the Prairie Creek and Owl Creek drainages to the west are also impressive.

This route is rugged and steep in places, and in other areas it's a smooth and easy two-track. At first it climbs steeply, then soon meets an intersection where another leg of leg of the King Creek Trail - route 417, is available. Stay right to stay on the main King Creek ATV Trail 416. The trail immediately crosses King Creek again and then gets real steep for a little while. After some rugged going the trail breaks over and the going gets much easier. A sign on a huge old Douglas fir marks the wilderness boundary and the end of the motorized trail.

The trail is about 20 miles north of Ketchum and accessed off of State Highway 75, on the right as you are headed up the highway. If you are coming from points north, the parking area for the trail will be on your left off of Hwy 75. It is about 4 miles south of Galena Lodge and just south of the Owl Creek/Spring Creek drainages. There is a small parking area adjacent to the highway and at the base of the trail. There are no facilities at the parking area.
