Description / Access Information
Lodgepole Trail #310: Another fun trail that helps form some of the "classic" Greenhorn loops. it is also useful for the connection it makes to the Red Warrior Trail.

From the Greenhorn side this trail climbs up the Lodgepole drainage and away from its intersection with the Mahoney Trail. This low, east end of the trail quickly meets up with the west end of the Cow Creek Connector Trail #153 before continuing up the drainage. In a couple miles, at saddle and a "T" intersection, the #310 meets up with the Mahoney-Lodgepole Connector Trail #819 on the left. To the right the Lodgepole Trail #310 continues to climb for a bit to a saddle before plunging downhill to the Red Warrior Trail.

The trail can be accessed most directly by approaching it on trail's departing from the Greenhorn Trailhead. The trailhead is out at the end of Greenhorn Gulch Road. This road is about half way between Ketchum and Hailey. Head west at the highway stop light to the end of the Greenhorn Road. Obey the 35 mph speed limit through the subdivision, and please drive slowly where the road turns to gravel.

The trail can also be approached from the Warm Springs Road side. Head out Warm Springs Road, being sure to go slowly as you head out of town through the residential neighborhoods in this area. The Red Warrior Trail meets the Warm Springs Road about 10 miles west of town. You will pass the Frenchman's Hot Springs before arriving at the Red Warrior Trail on the left/south side of the road. You will need to wade the Warm Springs Creek to get to the start of the Red Warrior Trail. The Lodgepole Trail intersects with the Red Warrior Trail about 2.2 miles up the draw.
